Eczema around my eyes – how I deal with it.
Hi, I just want to share my experiences with you and hopefully offer some assistance. For years I suffered from Eczema around eyes, hands, and thighs. It was not only the irritation that made my life a misery, but it was the constant humiliation that I endured throughout my schooling years which has probably left the greatest impact on me. I just wish I had found a cure for my eczema around eyes way back then. Like many eczema sufferers I had tried the whole gamut of treatments that are on offer; some home treatments, lots of expensive creams, and even a radical laser type treatment which actually caused the condition to flare up even more severe. I really didn’t think that I’d ever rid myself of the eczema around my eyes and had pretty much resigned myself to a lifetime of itchiness, scratching, and that self-conscious feeling you get when out in public. I was able to hide the eczema on my thighs, and even on the backs of my hands to a small extent, but apart from constantly wearing sunglasses indoors and getting even more strange looks, I was never really able to hide the eczema around my eyes.

It was a chance meeting with one of my former high school teachers which finally led me on my path to recovery. She remembered the humiliation that I had endured in my teen years because of my eczema around my eyes and had been one of the few teachers that I was able to confide in and who actually had offered me some comfort and empathy. I now understood why. She too had suffered from eczema but was fortunate enough to be able to cover it under her clothing, so I wasn’t really aware of it. She didn’t have to ask me how I was getting on as the dry red skin around my eyes were a pretty clear message to her that I was still suffering from eczema around eyes. She told me about how she too had tried for years to find a solution to her problems, and that she had finally stumbled across a remedy that had actually worked for her. She was only too willing to share it with me and hopefully help with the itchiness around my eyes.
As usual, I took the recommendation with a slight degree of suspicion and trepidation, as all of the miracle wonder cures in the past had only resulted in either costing me money, or providing a bit of temporary relief for a few weeks only for the eczema on my eyes to slowly return to where it was at before. But I gave it a go, and wow, I was actually quite amazed with the results. No it wasn’t an overnight cure, but it also didn’t involve expensive creams or painful treatments. It really was life changing for me as I am now able to go shopping or eat out in restaurants without feeling that people were staring at the eczema on my eyes and hands.
